Related story regarding IE
A few years ago, my employer decided to go to a paperless pay statement. We had long had direct deposit, but had continued to receive a paper statement- something I valued. Those statements allowed me to have a reliable paper record of what I was being paid.
The product they chose (Lawson) was already dated when they bought it in 2012. It had a limited, clumsy interface and only worked with IE. It was such a pain to log in to, that people just stopped trying. Instead, they spent a great deal of time complaining to me. I was sort of like a resident priest in the confessional sometimes.
I happened to be at the payroll office one afternoon and decided to have a conversation with them about this clunker and our loathing of it. The man-in-charge-of-payroll-clones seemed genuinely shocked at my concerns. He had ABSOLUTELY no concept that this program was outdated in 2000. He had no idea that there were other browsers. In fact, his response to me was that, "We only use the internet."
[sigh]
So here we are almost 4 years later, and my ex-employer (happily retired) is still using the same out-dated version of the original crappy software.
